Biography[]
Augustus is the son of two Bavarian butchers and first appears just after he finds the golden ticket when he is interviewed by Cherry Sundae in his unnamed Bavarian village. During the song "More of him to love" both Augustus and his mother sing about Augustus' early life where it is revealed that Mrs Gloop first wanted a husband who would feed her lots of sweets and be her "Schwarzwold" of joy. Finding this in her husband Mr Gloop she quickly marries him and falls pregnant with Augustus who is so large that Mrs Gloop's liver and kidney have to be removed to make room, soon Augustus is born, and his first words are unsurprisingly "Let's eat!" It is then revealed by Augustus that He is not only as greedy as his mother but that she almost seems to live vicariously through her sons overeating even implying that eats the pigs raised in the backyard alive. It is then revealed that Augustus found his golden ticket after a "light mid-breakfast snack" of fifty Wonka bars where he actually bit through the ticket without noticing it. Augustus then states that he believes his victory is "a gesundheit from above" and that he hopes that after winning the lifetime supply of chocolate there will be "More of him to love".
Day of the tour[]
On the day of the tour Augustus makes his entrance with his mother and burps into Cherry's microphone grossing out the press and other tour members. Upon entering the factory Augustus quickly alienates himself from Wonka with his greedy behaviour with Wonka warning his to "Loose the wurst" however Augustus misses the point.
The Chocolate Room[]
Augustus' greedy behaviour soon lands him an extremely grizzly end in chocolate room. After arriving in the chocolate room Augustus is entranced by the almost completely edible room and after Wonka has given his permission Augustus gorges himself on the various sweets and chocolates in the room however he ignores Wonka's warning to stay away from the chocolate waterfall, where all the chocolate from the factory is mixed, and quickly begins to guzzle up the chocolate and continues to do so even after he is spotted by Wonka who warns him to stop. However, his mother contradicts Wonka and tells him that Augustus is simply peckish however her attitude quickly changes when Augustus sneezes and falls headfirst into the cauldron of chocolate. Almost at once an alarm sounds and a pipe plunges into the cauldron and begins sucking up the chocolate with Wonka explaining that the pipe has detected an impurity, in this case Augustus, that must be removed with Mrs Gloop protesting that Augustus is not an impurity but her little boy at which point Augustus is sucked out of the chocolate and up the pipe.
Wonka then calls for the flow of chocolate to diverted with Mrs Gloop asking if this will save Augustus only for Wonka to be more interested in saving the chocolate. Suddenly a large collection of pipes descends from the ceiling on which are a legion of funny little men after the group question who they are Wonka introduces them as the Oompa Loompas, who begin to sing the song "Auf Wiedersehen Augustus Gloop" about Augustus' predicament. As the Oompa Loompas sing, they begin to divert the flow of chocolate leading to Augustus appearing at the various windows in the pipes begging for help much to Mrs Gloop's horror. Soon Augustus becomes jammed in the pipe at which point the Oompa Loompas reveal that Augustus is actually being forced towards a fudge boiler where he will be cooked and melted into fudge.
Augustus then starts to cry and Mrs Gloop faints as her son is forced through the last set of pipes and vanishes from sight, Wonka then pulls out a walkie talkie and orders the Oompa Loompas to go down to the fudge room to rescue Augustus or failing that ensure his bones do not contaminate the fudge.
Augustus' final fate remains unknown as he is not seen again.
