Angelica Gloop[citation needed] is Augustus's mother. She’s married to Mr. Gloop. She lives in Düsseldorf, Germany with her husband and son and is the head manager of Gloop's Butcher Shop. She’s absentminded and overfeeds her son because she wants him to be just like her (large and overweight).

At the end of the tour, however, she sees what has happened to him and stops overfeeding him, thus becoming a better mother. Apart from really seeming to love her son, she made no attempt whatsoever to save him from the chocolate river.
